Back in the 1990s, this was Family Center Video, a Kroger-owned video store that had a large rental selection. It had a sunken part of the store that connected directly to Kroger. After Kroger cut the video annex, the sunken area was sealed. It late became Half Price Books in the early 2000s, but in early 2011 the store moved out and was replaced by College Depot by year-end, which was a locally-owned shop that has housewares for dorms (dormwares?) and some clothing items. In 2014, it moved catty-corner to occupy half of the Lacks furniture store space, but it closed after a few years.
