546-548 Broadway (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Broadway, 546-548
 store / shop, office building

5-story office and store building completed in 1874. Designed by John Correja, the facade was originally brick and marble, but was replaced with cast-iron in 1901. The building extends through the block to Crosby Street, where the facade is wider with 13 bays and clad in red brick above a cream-colored cast-iron storefront on a black-painted stone water table. The 4th bay from the south is slightly recessed, and all the windows still have hinges for the exterior shutters that were originally present. The rear facade is topped by a modillioned roof cornice.

The main facade on Broadway is five bays wide, clad completely in white cast-iron. The ground floor has entrances in the north, center, and south bays, with large plate-glass show windows in the wider intermediate bays. Each ground-floor bay has glass transoms at the top, and the ground floor is capped by a dentiled cornice. The upper-story bays are equally-spaced, separated by paneled pilasters, with another dentiled cornice at the roof line. A white metal fire escape runs down the southern two bays. The ground and second floor are occupied by UNIQLO.
