First Army's Division West, in accordance with the Army Force Generation (ARFORGEN) model, conducts training readiness oversight and mobilization of designated active and reserve component forces in the western area of responsibility in order to provide trained and ready forces to regional combatant commanders.
This was the 2nd Armored Division, HELL ON WHEELS, HQ during the 1980s. Some of us SPEC-4s who had M151 license, before Hum-Vees, got to pull division duty driver with short-timer MSGTs. Flag detail reported to MSG. MG Richard Scholtes and MG Roger Price were the CGs then.I remember after the month long FTX called HOW-1 (Hell on Wheels) JAN 1986, MG Scholtes told us the next Division FTX would be called HOW-3 because we'd proven we knew " How to"(pun intended). Our beloved 2nd A.D. was deactivated and the 4th INF DIV took its place at Hood.
