The El Torreon Ballroom had its gala opening in 1927 and has continued to serve Kansas City throughout its varied history.
Its majestic ballroom celebrated a great jazz history in the late 1920s and 1930s hosting extended engagements from Cab Calloway and other luminaries of that time.
In the 1950s it hosted rock & roll shows as well as a roller skating rink, and in the 1970s as The Cowtown Ballroom, Kansas City music fans watched bands such as Van Morrison, Frank Zappa and Alice Cooper.
Once again the El Torreon Ballroom, the venue has featured varied acts of the hardcore, metal, punk and ska genres since 2000.
