The Pennsylvania Railroad's Pomeroy & Newark branch ran between its Philadelphia-Chicago main line (now Amtrak Keystone Corridor) in Pomeroy, PA (just east of Parkesburg) to its New York-Washington main line (now the Amtrak Northeast Corridor) in Newark, DE. Most of the line north of Newark was abandoned in the 1930s while the Newark part was used well into the 1970s. The segment through Newark is now a walking trail. Some parts of the railroad are still evident in Newark, particularly at Wyoming Road and Main Street as well as past the Newark Shopping Center.
