The San Juanico Bridge is the longest bridge in the Philippines,
with a length of 2.162 km and 10.620 meters width. Its longest length is a steel girder viaduct built on reinforced concrete piers, and its main span is of an arch-shaped truss design. It crosses the
San Juanico Strait (the narrowest strait in the world), bridging
the islands of Samar and Leyte.

It connects Tacloban City on the Leyte side and Santa Rita town on the Samar side.
It offers many picturesque views, especially of the San Juanico Strait with
its thousand whirlpools as well as the islets of the province. It is
approximately 10 minutes from downtown Tacloban City and is accessible
by passenger jeepney, bus, motorcab or private vehicle.

  • longest single span bridge in the world
  • It's NOT the longest single span bridge in the world. In fact its not even in the top 20... Though San Juanico is the longest rail-carrying span in the world. NOT the longest single span. Reason for this is because San Juanico uses an island as a stepping stone.
  • Despite the controversy, its a marvel of engineering that links the stunning backdrop of lush tropical islands Leyte and Samar through the winding narrows of San Juanico Strait. Definitely a picturesque scene.
  • Its marvelous!
  • Wonderful !!I just hope the structure will last forever for future generations to see..
