Elk Herd

USA / Illinois / Elk Grove Village /
animals, interesting place, draw only border

Back in 1925, Commissioner William Busse had elk brought in by train from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Nowadays, you can see descendants of that herd in the NW corner of Higgins & Arlington Heights. Their pasture is fenced in along the bike/walking trail and is a popular spot for families and people walking their dogs. Most of the time it's easy to catch a glimpse of the elk when driving by. However, their pasture is about 15 acres, and sometimes they draw back into the trees.
