Ireland's most south-easterly point. There was a failed bid to build a nuclear power station here in the 1970's. In 2002, a wind farm with 14 turbines was constructed by Hibernian Windpower. Each has a capacity of 850kW, with a combined maximum output of 11,900kW.

Large numbers of seabirds (Gannets, Manx Shearwaters, Auks) pass offshore, as do the occasional dolphin or porpoise.
