Designed by Carl Boller in 1922 for Dr. Edward M. Hiner. Hiner formed a popular military band in Kansas City sometime after 1889, which was invited to the White House on a couple of occasions to perform for President McKinley. Hiner later moved to Los Angeles in 1919 where he formed the largest band school in the country. Hiner was good friends with John Philip Sousa and named the 1928 music studio built behind his house the Sousa Nook. The house is currently being restored.
