The deity residing here is the Kuladeivam of a select few people (Nadar community) who have their origin in the surrounding areas. Surrounding areas doesnot mean limited just for few kms but goes even crossing Vilathikulam. It has a traditionally everlasting water pond. But now things have dried up and depends for water from papanasam dam. When the water is full in the pond it is a relish (rammiyam) to watch and swim. This place is surrounded by Thalampoo. If the priest (not a brahmin but Nadar) is advance informed of your arrival he would prepare Pongal (Sweetend boil rice) which is the prashadam. Some people also indulge in Keda Vettudal (Sacrifice of goat) during occasions. Temple is closed between 12-1. You need to have your own conveyance to reach the Temple. The necessary pujai saman should be purchased from Ammapettai on the main road. A must visit if you are visiting Trichendur. - T.V.D. Rajkumar
