Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach at the west end of Gulf Road is a favorite with locals for picnics, swimming, and boat launching. It has barbeque grills, sheltered picnic tables, bicycle stands and public restrooms. Hours are from sunrise until 10:00 p.m. (727-942-5610)

  • This is kind of a spooky beach. There's seldom anyone here, or perhaps one or two creepy looking people loitering around. There's no security, and of course no park rangers, since it's not really a park. I've never heard of anything bad happening here, but it just *feels* rather smarmy and unsafe. I wouldn't bring kids here, I'd go to Howard Park just a mile up the road, which is much, much nicer, and definitely pretty safe.
  • Yeah the beach isn't that great but by no means is it unsafe, lived by it all my life nothing happens.
