This originally opened as Junek's Barbecue, which moved out from the gas station just north of it in the mid-2000s. After Junek's folded, it was was replaced by a series of restaurants, none of which lasted a year. Those included "Outlaw Jack's Brew N Chew" (a steakhouse/burger restaurant, opened early 2013, closed, reopened a few months later, and then closed again), "Country Café" (opened up in 2014, but by gone by January 2015), "Chubby's Meat Wagon" (late April or early May 2015 but closed September), and the latest victim, Cajuns Bayou Grille (opened February 2016, giving the exterior new paint and enlarging the parking area, but closed July 2016). A year after CBG closed, it reopened as Madisonville-based Texas Burger (TX Burger), but can the chain restaurant break the curse?

  • There have been multiple attempts to make a go of this location and each has failed. What none of them have done is to remodel the exterior to give it some curb appeal...to make it inviting.
  • Well, TX Burger has been here two years, which is more than the four preceding it.
