Cayuga Station is a three-unit station that was built between 1970 and 1993. Units 1 and 2 will have sulfur dioxide scrubbers installed by fall 2008. Steam and power is supplied to the plant’s neighbor, a packaging product manufacturer whose raw material is 100 percent recycled pulp products.

The plant also features a 35-acre wetland area that was created in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency. During most years the area near Cayuga Station hosts the state’s largest population of mid-winter migratory bald eagles. The plant hosts annual bald eagle viewing days.
