Wakefield Kirkgate railway station (Wakefield)

Wakefield's other railway station is much older and quieter than the main station at Westgate, being located in a quiet area with only local services. The railway station has been in a deteriorated state which a survey found puts many people off from using it. It was announced recently that the station would be redeveloped (the main building is listed) and a new Intercity service will be run to Nottingham by December 2008.

There are trains from here to Huddersfield, Pontefract, Goole, Sheffield via Barnsley and Leeds via Castleford.

UNSTAFFED STATION. Redevelopment under way.

Services:
Platform 1 - Trains to Leeds, Normanton, Castleford, Selby, Huddersfield and Bradford

Platform 2 - Trains to Barnsley, Sheffield and Nottingham

Platform 3 - Trains to Pontefract and Knottingley
