Battery Haskin was named on March 13, 1902 in honor of Brevet Brigadier General Joseph Abel Haskin, U.S. Army (lieutenant colonel, 1st U.S. Artillery), who served with distinction during the Mexican and Civil wars and who died on August 3, 1874.
