Baarle

Baarle is a village on the border between the Netherlands and Belgium with nearly 10,000 inhabitants.
It lies about 15 km south of Tilburg in the Netherlands province “Noord Brabant” and consists of the Dutch municipality of Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog municipality belonging to the Belgian province Antwerp.

Baarle has become known by the complex history of border between the Netherlands and Belgium. Most of the Belgian municipality of Baarle-Hertog is namely as enclave and exclave on Dutch territory directly related with the Dutch municipality of Baarle-Nassau and forms the place Baarle this together.

Baarle-Hertog is no contiguous enclave and exclave in turn also: the community consists of 21 pieces of which 16 in the place Baarle and five in the vicinity of Baarle lie.
Two enclaves between States belonging to Baarle-Hertog are in turn seven Dutch enclaves of Baarle-Nassau
