The old interlocking tower seen here controlled movement into the old Atlanta Terminal Station. Terminal Station provided passenger service to Southern RR, Atlanta & West Point, and the Central of Georgia RR. The tracks seen in the pavement just to the right of the tower are what is left of the lead tracks that went into the boarding platforms, which stood just to the north of this site where the parking lots are. The main station structure stood where the Richard B. Russell Federal Building is today. Passenger service to Terminal Station ended in 1970. The station was demolished in 1972.

Interlocking tower was demolished in June of 2018.

Modern day Norfolk Southern and CSX mainlines are just to the left of the tower. The track curving off to the far right eventually joins the CSX line (former Georgia RR) near Underground Atlanta.
