The inventor and painter was born here Nov. 14, 1765. Famous for his steamboat "Clermont", he also invented canal machinery, a "diving boat", and torpedoes. The property is owned by the Southern Lancaster Historical Society which gives weekend tours of the house from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
