Naujoji Akmenė is a city in Lithuania, center of district municipality, has an urban eldership status.
Previously here stand Karpėnai village, mentioned in 1652. On January 31, 1952 Karpėnai were renamed to urban type settlement Naujoji Akmenė. Since 1962 Naujoji Akmenė became the centre of Akmenė district municipality. On August 25, 1965 Naujoji Akmenė received city status.
