The eleventh turn on the circuit is named in honor of Ayrton Senna, F1's three-time world champion, completed in time for the 1994 European Grand Prix. In 1990, Martin Donnelly had an accident at the following curve that ended his professional racing career, so the chicane was added since additional run-off was not possible with the location of pit lane.
