  • The church is in decline? What does that mean? According to the "U.S. News & World Report", it was the 5th largest in the U.S. and one of the fastest growing in the world.
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is, as is obvious from the name, a Christian sect which powerfully emphasizes emulation of Jesus, and adherence to his teachings. It shares beliefs and scripture (the old and new testaments of the King James Bible) with virtually every other Christian denomination and is no more or less a "cult" than any of the others. Like all denominations, it has certain beliefs which delineate it from others, as well. It can only justly be objectively judged according to it's works, which primarily consist of promoting a healthy lifestyle, devotion to family, a priority on education and self-betterment, and service to friends, community, and the world. The LDS church has provided more than $1 billion in monetary humanitarian aid to areas stricken by natural disaster, political upheaval, and poverty world-wide, in addition to millions more in material donations from members. It was the first to act and organize rescue and relief when hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. Because of it's almost entirely volunteer-based structure, and emphasis on service, local church branches are able to take action in such disasters almost immediately, and the "Bishops" of those branches have stores of supplies on hand which they can distribute on a moment's notice. Many church members in Utah and other states took Katrina victims into their own homes, helped them resettle, and get back on their feet after devastating losses. Members have fought and died bravely in virtually every war the United States have been involved in from the Mexican American war to the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Because of the benefits the LDS church provides to families and communities, it's members are among the healthiest anywhere, and the church is the fastest growing on the planet, not from increased population, but by conversion through the fellowship and teachings of it's more than 50,000 young volunteer missionaries world-wide. Many US Presidents have called on LDS Church leaders for council and prayer on their behalf, while good church members have served in government from local councils to the highest positions in Presidential cabinets, and have been recruited specifically at times for posts in the intelligence gathering community because of their propensity to honesty, loyalty to country, and hard work. They are good citizens in any country because of the church's emphasis on obeying local laws and serving others. If this brand of Christianity is a "cult", the world needs a whole lot more of it's kind.
  • Let it be imperitave that all mormons between the ages of 13 and 36 submerge themselves IMEDIATELY in the Academic Studies of Business Management and Economic Principles for the purposes of confrontation of the New Frontier of the forth comming GENERATION of Business Operations and NOT to persue the practices of Business by any other means such as Grants, Credit Cards and Free Monies
  • December 7, 2008 Dear First Presidency, My husband and I were sealed in the Temple and then sealed to my children from prior marriage one year later. We live in a one bedroom pre-fabricated home built in the 1940’s. It had been abanneded for over 6 years. Much repair was needed. My husband did what he could. Still the roof leaks when it rains. It is very cold and drafty in the winter. The back door lock is broken and the whole door needs replacing. And the sinks leak and make a mess everyday. I do what I can for my family. I’m self employed and my income varies on sales made. My husband hasn’t worked in over one year. He has a real hard time getting a job because of his ability to learn and remember. He has been diagnosed with ADHD and is on medication. We have recently brought it to our bishop’s attention that we needed some financial help because sales have been slow. I’m not able to make our rent of $430.00 and I have been feeding my family expired canned food from the cupboard. It is very difficult for me to ask for help just to be denied. Bishop Martz from the N. Edwards Ward in California has told my husband that he would not help us with a food order and rent money because of our church attendance. I have heard Gordon B. Hinckley say “the church will help its members regardless of their membership status”. And I have seen it happen with even some of the most inactive members. We haven’t asked for much. We didn’t ask for a new roof or with other house repairs or continuous monthly help, just some food to get us by this month and if possible some assistance with our rent payment. We have not strayed from our beliefs. My husband was born and raised in the church and I was baptized almost 6 years ago. Both my son and daughter were baptized. We try to live good lives and are temple worthy. We just haven’t felt welcome in our new ward. We moved in April of this year and have never been visited by our Home teachers. We don’t even know who they are. My husband finds it easier to just go to Sacrament because of his ADHD/learning disability. And so we fail to attend class. Bishop Martz said that before he will help us he would like to see us at church more and attend classes. In the mean time we have to do with out. Or perhaps find a food bank from another church. PLEASE HELP US ANYWAY YOU CAN Kindly, Brother and Sister Basinger 27186 NUDGENT ST. BORON, CA 93516 760.762.6863
  • Hi, Dear First Presidency and 12 Apostles; I am under extreme stress and serious health problems. I have been attempting to get on Social Security Disability Income for 4 years and have been told my hearing may not be for another year, at the least. I cannot work a regular job nor a part time job without undo stress and depression. I am coming back into the church and am requesting to be baptized in God's church. I need help from the church until I can either work or get my disability. According to my doctor, I am not allowed to work due to my depression and back issues as well as the panic attacks I suffer from day to day. At this point, I am requesting that I be re-instated back into the kingdom. Thank you so very much. Your handmaid, Crystal Jennifer Wilson 1701 Joliet Place Oxnard, CA 93030
