First High School in Salt Lake City. West is the only traditional high school in SLC with a 7th - 12th grade student body. That includes ELP, IB, AP, and a large multi-racial student body.

Let us not forget it has a wonderful gang population as well. Students have been shot just off campus grounds, as well as stabbings occur, there are also frequent gang-related fights. It is a great school. I truly believe this. I went there, and if I have kids, I would send them to West. It just has a gang problem. Toughens kids up though, and teaches them not to disrespect.

President Thomas S. Monson (Current LDS church leader and Prophet) attended. As did former Jazz owner Larry H. Miller
