Tuxedo Park, New York | village

USA / New York / Tuxedo Park /

Tuxedo Park is a village in the town of Tuxedo on Tuxedo (or Tucsedo) Lake in New York. It was incorporated in 1952. Tuxedo Park was known as an exclusive, upscale enclave from its founding in 1886, though beginning in the late 1930s, the largest estates began to be subdivided and developed.
The "tux" as we know it was first worn here at the annual Autumn Ball. It was seen as the dress-down casual alternative to dress-up formal attire (i.e. three-piece pin-stripes with long tails.)

Tuxedo Park is still an exclusive, upscale enclave. The only change from the 30s is that most people actually work for a living, rather than just clip coupons.
