Ossining is a village in the Town of Ossining, Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 25,060 at the 2010 census. It was incorporated in 1813 as Sing Sing, the first village in Westchester County to receive a state charter. The name was changed to Ossining in 1901 in an attempt to distance the village from the prison's harsh reputation.

  • If you get "sent up the river" to "old sparky" you'll experience a shock via America's first electric chair in the Sing Sing prison made famous in gangster movies. Sing Sing remains today a maximum security prison in Ossining.
