Signal Hill Observatory Platform (Kota Kinabalu) | scenic lookout, interesting place

Malaysia / Sabah / Kota Kinabalu / Signal Hill Road
 observatory, scenic lookout, interesting place

An observatory platform at which visitors can take in a bird's eye view of downtown KK. The railing section nearby provides a partial view over the waters off the city including Jesselton Point, and several islands in the distance. An observant individual can notice part of the KKIA from up here. This attraction, which is popular to both locals and tourists, can be reached by taxi, or by foot. Going by foot requires a 10 minute stroll and hike from Australia Place. Parking around here is extremely limited to four to six cars the most. It can get a little quiet here at times, especially during the early hours of morning and also at night. However, it is sufficiently lighted up at night. Contrary to what many may say or suggest, this observatory platform is not the highest point in the city. The hill directly behind where a few houses can be seen is the highest point of the hill (there are higher ridges outside downtown).
