The first "suburb" of Omaha, this was the first neighborhood in the city to lay a street (Lincoln Boulevard) that followed the contours of the landscape. The neighborhood was first platted in 1889 as an exclusive subdivision by George Bemis's Bemis Land Company.
The Easter day tornado of 1913 devastated the neighborhood, so many of the homes post-date that event, but there are a few that survived the storm, including this lovely Queen Anne on Hawthorne Avenue.
