Also known as Pershore "Great" bridge, parts of the existing stone bridge date back to 1413, when it replaced a wooden bridge that became unsafe. Legend has it that it was built by monks after one of their number was downed in the river.

During the English Civil war (1642-1651) a fierce battle was fought on the old bridge.

It finally proved too narrow for the needs of modern traffic and in 1926 a concrete bridge was built alongside it.
