Grade II Listed (UK), signal box
A signal box for New Street Station whose appearance which is unusual for 1960s has earned it listed building status. With the demolition and renovation of New Street Station this may be the only thing reminding people of what the previous station looked like. Very little of the original station remains.
It was built between 1964 and 1965 to a designed by Bicknell & Hamilton with W.R. Healey (Regional Architect for British Railways London Midland Region). It is four storeys tall clad in corrugated concrete.
