Sully Historic Site

USA / Virginia / Chantilly /
house, park, place with historical importance, plantation, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, 1790s construction, historic site

Richard Bland Lee (Robert E. Lee's Uncle), Virginia's first congressman, constructed this plantation from 1794-1799. The original plot of land was immense, and was bought out and developed from 1950s-1990s. Originally, the entrance to Sully was from the north, on a road that connected to Barnsfield Rd, which originally continued west into Loudoun County. That road is no longer visible, however, it's path still exists, and will be rebuilt and repaved, following the completion of the Air & Space Museum interchange. The western entrance to Route 28 (Sully Rd) will be shut down, and entrances/exits will be to the northeast, between Barnsfield and Wall Rd.
