The site of the Willie Mangum homestead circa 1850. The site had become a service station and garage by the 1920s.

In 1933, the U.S. Postal Service purchased the land for a new Post Office, to replace the overburdened facility that sat where the Hill/CCB/Suntrust building now stands.
