Built in 1870, Architect G.S.H. Appleget designed this house for industrialist Jonathon McGee Heck. The Second Empire style house is capped by a mansard roof and a dramatic central tower. The patterned slate and ornate brackets, window surrounds, and porch posts makes this one of Raleigh's most distinctive Victorian houses.
