The Gilfillan Farm is one of the original properties within Upper St. Clair Township. Once encompassing hundreds of acres, the remaining tract of 75 acres consists of 60 acres sold to Upper St. Clair Township in 1976 and 15 acres willed by Margaret Gilfillan to the Upper St. Clair Historical Society when she passed away in 2001 at the age of 101. Both tracts have stipulations that they must be preserved and cannot be developed. The Township tract has a 1.25-mile walking/hiking trail open to he public. The Historical Society has opened the 18th-century farmhouse and barns to the public as an educational facility. The farm still is a working facility with a small number of livestock and crops.
