Govt. Polytechnic College, Kaduthuruthy is one of the major Polytechnic colleges in Kerala having course of study in 3 disciplines. It started to function in the year 1999. The institution is centrally located in Muttuchira, Kaduthuruthy and on the side of Kottayam – Ernakulum Route.

The college was started by the continuous and sincere efforts of Hon’ble M.L.A. of Kaduthuruthy Adv. Mons Joseph (then minister of PWD) and was inaugurated by Shri. P J Joseph, then Minister of Education on 10-10-99. The institution started functioning in one of the buildings of Govt. U.P.S Muttuchira, where the first year classes are held even now. The III rd, IVth, Vth, and VIth semester classes along with the laboratories, the library and the office have been accommodated in a rented building at Muttuchira Junction. The classes are conducted in three different branches and they are Computer Engineering, Computer Hardware Maintenance and Electronics Engineering.
The institution maintains a very good academic record for years having good number of its alumni got placed in major companies and industries. Here 40 staff members are working including Guest Lecturers. About 20 acres of land were handed over to Govt. for the construction of Polytechnic building through the Kaduthuruthy Grama Panchayat. Active steps are being taken for immediate construction of necessary infrastructure. Hon‘ble Minister for Education Shri. M.A. Baby inaugurated the infrastructural Development activities on 2010 Feb 8. Hon’ble Minister for P.W.D Adv. Mons Joseph presided over the meeting.
The P.T.A was very active during the years. The co-operation extended by the members of the executive committee for implementing discipline in the Polytechnic is to be specially mentioned. Moreover they helped very much for purchasing lab furniture, LAN instruments and also for the practical materials. A career and placement cell was started and many students got placement in HCL, NEST and Excel Companies. For the final year students seminars were conducted in personal excellence, entrepreneurial skills etc.
For many years our students have actively participated in the Inter Poly Arts and Sports competitions and bagged prizes in the Inter Poly Arts Level. The students Union functioned well during the year. The Union’s active participation for solving different problems including discipline in the campus is very impressive. The performance of Football and cricket teams in Sports meet are highly appreciated.
N.S.S Programs like Campus cleaning, removal of plastics, AIDS Day, Blood donation campaign etc. are done in the Campus. We have progressed a lost from the initial stages. However further challenges are ahead. We are looking forward for a permanent approval from AICTE. I expect that the long cherished dream of our own campus will also be full filled in the near future and request the collective efforts of students, staff, parents, and all well wishers for its realization.
