Nuclear power plants 'Jaslovské Bohunice' (called according the nearest village).

The first nuclear plant (A1) was finished and given to operational status in 1972. The reactor was completly made in Czechoslovakia (KS 150). In 1977 during refueling there was a major accident. Since then, this power plant is in decommissioning process.

The two plants (V1 and V2) started electricity production in 1978 (V1) and 1985 (V2), a total of 4 reactors, each having 440MW of nominal output. V1 contains two russian-designed reactors VVER 440 - V230. V2 contains two upgraded reactors VVER 440 - V213.

Based on agreements with the European Union, the V1 reactors had to be shut down in 2006 and 2008.
