2,889 acre state park at Cape Henry. The park is listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places for its importance as the first park in the State Park system of Virginia. The park's name refers to its close proximity to the location of Christopher Newport and the Virginia Company's landing in the New World in 1607.

  • Shore drive to the beach is the most peaceful part of VA beach. On the way back going west, there's a photo of a little girl on a tree who died here years ago. Her family and friends still maintain that spot. Over 70 people have died on this road from car accidents. It's just a straight road, nothing dangerous, just plain ol' human negligence.
