A large town in Wiltshire. Population - 185,609 (2011 Census).
Prior to the Victorian era it was just a village. It grew twice: First because of the Great Western Railway and Second because of rapid expansion during the 1960s.

  • Home to the Magic Roundabout. A system of 5 roundabouts circling around a central roundabout.
  • I'd just like to put a more positive view on Swindon to contrast with that last silly comment. Swindon is a bustling town, with all the amenities you would find in a city. In addition it's in close proximity to recreational areas and open spaces such as Lydiard park and Cotswold water park. Additionally it is ideally placed along the M4 corridor for employment opportunities either within the Swindon area, to Reading, or Bath/Bristol. I can name a number of places that would qualify as a 'cess pit', but Swindon is definitely not one of them.
  • I lived there until 1971. Went to KIng William street, Drove Rd and Commonweal schools. Came to Aus, regret it.
