 town, draw only border

Luton is a large and busy industrial town in the county of Bedfordshire with a population of 180,000. It has a large airport known as London Luton Airport, and is still the headquarters of Vauxhall Motors and used to be a place for making hats, although their factories have since closed. It also reportedly has the largest number of taxis per head. Luton is mostly residential with a large central shopping centre, but is gradually improving. It is joined onto the older and smaller town of Dunstable.

  • I've always lived in this town, and I'm glad to say that is is changing. Major work is being done to renovate the town centre. But like all towns it's not without its problems. After all, you can't choose who lives there. But please dont quote articals that seem rather out of date. For example, all that talk about chavs? A good proportion of the town is occupied by the asian community here, and many other minorities are settling. To suggest the town is awash with 'chavs' is daft. Besides the culture of modern youth is apparent everywhere you go. I'm sure you could find worse problems in a lot of other towns. Luton's problems only sum up the problems of the country as a whole. But it's a nicer place to visit than it used to be, and more especially once the reworkings been done.
  • I have to keep a neutral point of view here. I don't allow anything offensive to anyone who lives here to be written. Most of them think the same anyway (as proved by the Crap Towns Survey). Not an interesting town at all. Town centre has a prevalence of 1960s architecture that has aged here as well as it has in Pripyat. There's no point complaining that Luton doesn't care about its history - there isn't any, save for mostly old industrial buildings. Not as bad as it was in the '80s, and slowly getting better all the time. Big airport close by and cheap housing. Dunstable is slightly better.
