Schooner "Grafton",80 tons,5 crew under Captain Musgrave, mineral(tin) exploration and sealing, driven ashore in storm January 1864.Established shelter "Epigwaitt".Three sailed in dingy to Stewart Island(a distance of 400 km!),others rescued August 1865 by "Flying Scud".I have transferred this info from a map.It doesn't indicate if the three who sailed to Stewart Island led to the rescue of the others. The above photograph was taken in 1888.

Comments

  • The name of the shelter sounds like "Epic wait"
  • The three who sailed to Stewart Island definitely led to the rescue of the remaining two. Refer Captain Musgraves and Raynals separate accounts.
