Lizard Ales Brewery

United Kingdom / England / Mullion /

This building used to house one of the secret 'ROTOR' radar staions built during the Cold War from around 1954, built to detect Soviet Russian attack. The buildings were meant to resist a close 'A' bomb attack.
The site is now the brewery of Lizard Ales.

  • Peter, thanks for your comment. Can you add any further information? I would like to understand more about Treleaver and its role during the Cold War. My e-mail is keithray8888@hotmail.co.uk. The artifacts from the Cold War era fascinate me, as so much is still intact but so secret from us until recently. I am especially interested in the 'Backbone' microwave network which was planned as a parallel comunication network, and the three deep telephone exchanges (Manchester, Birmingham and London) which still exist intact. Best regards Keith
