San Jorge Island is the second largest island in Isabel Province, Solomon Islands, and is located at the SW end of Santa Isabel. The population of about 1000 resides in 4 villages. The island is sometimes referred to by locals as Moumolu Naitu which means "Devil's Island" in the local dialect: tradition has it that the spirits of the dead in Santa Isabel region travel to and reside in San Jorge; however this is not an official name for the island.
