This is Neighborhood Statistical Area (NSA) # 132 (University City North) and NSA # 134 (University City South) as defined by the City of Charlotte for its Quality of Life Study. The Last study was released in July 2008. The NSA boundaries were delineated in 1997 (central city) and 2000 (suburban areas) by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission. NSAs represent communities of interest or neighborhood centered units, and boundaries roughly follow U.S. Census block group and block boundaries. Existing neighborhood organizations and community groups offered guidance and advice on where their boundaries should be drawn. In most cases NSA names represent the most dominant neighborhood subdivision, major street, or landmark in the general area. Most individual NSAs contain multiple residential subdivisions. In other words, NSAs were delineated first and then a name was selected. The boundaries were not chosen to represent an area identified by a specific name. Therefore, do not assume that this tag accurately represents a single area known as University City. According to the 2008 Quality of Life Study, the University City area had a population of 11,194.
