Opened in 1961, the museum displays several thousand interesting items related to crime and crime prevention, artifacts and documents. You will find amazing collection of everything to do with the Malaysian Police, from the Malacca Sultanate (1402-1511) to the modern day, describing events and displaying the memorabilia. Some 7,595 artifacts including the Police Force's first aircraft - a single-engined Cessna, Marine Police boat, Ferret car, guns confiscated from Communist Terrorists (CTs) and the notorious gangster, Botak Chin are on display at this museum. This facility was formerly the Police Senior Officers' Mess, which was renovated and equipped as a Museum at a cost of almost RM8 million.

The Royal Malaysian Police Museum is depicted in chronological order, starting from the year 1402 of the Malacca Sultanate (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malacca_Sultanate). The exhibits then proceed to Portuguese era (1511-1641), Dutch era (1641-1824), British era (1824-1941), and the Japanese who conquered over Malaya in 1941. The last section covers the present day, with a feature on Bukit Aman (the hilly area in Kuala Lumpur where the main headquarters of the Royal Malaysia Police force is located). This museum serves as a gentle reminder of the last 500 years in Malaysia as seen from the perspective of law enforcement. If you want to get an insight into the exciting and often dangerous world of the Royal Malaysian Police, this is definitely a place to go.
