Formerly known as 'Teluk Bandung' (meaning 'Tapioca Bay'; 'Bandung' in Sarawak Malay is 'Ubi Kayu' in Bahasa Malaysia = 'Tapioca' in English) prior to the Damai Beach Resort and Sarawak Cultural Village development. Topographically, the land area on and around Damai Beach Resort and Sarawak Cultural Village is still referred to as Teluk Bandung.
