Kelly, Kentucky. Near this spot August 21, 1955 occurred the only reported gun battle between earthlings and occupants of a UFO. The Sutton family, longtime residents of the area, plus two neighbors were watching TV at the Sutton's home when they claim to have witnessed a UFO land in a nearby field. Occupants of said craft are alleged to have surrounded the house, whereupon the Sutton's and their guests opened fire. Firing continued for much of the night until the visitors returned to their craft and departed the area. The family went into town and reported the events to the sheriff. At daybreak, inspection of the site revealed a considerable amount of gunfire damage to the environs, plus unexplained imprints in the field, as if some craft had landed then departed. The families involved were considered to be morally upright and generally beyond reproach. A suitable alternative explanation of the events of that night remains elusive to this day.
