Bombers armed with Nuclear weapons once were parked here during the Cold War.
The bomber crews would spend their alert shifts in the building located on the lower right side of the tarmac.
In 1992, following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the end of the Cold War, SAC was eliminated in a reorganization of the major Air Force commands.
