A Fort built on top of the "Gellért hegy".
It was an imperial stronghold during the personalunion with Austria, and its main function was to pose a threat to the city, should a revolt break out against the emperor. When Hungarian leaders finally came to terms with emperor Franz Josef in the late XIX. century, its gates were demolished as a symbolic act.
