I heard about this place on some show like "Bay Area Back Roads" or "California Gold" or "Myth Busters". The rock is sort of pre-broken as they are mining the Crush zone of the great San Andreas Fault. Too, this may be the quarry where the boys from "Myth Busters blew up a cement truck.
