Battle of Chickamauga, 2nd Day, September 20, 1863. Held by Thomas' Corps (US) while under assault from numerous CS units throughout the afternoon and evening of Sept. 20. Covered retreat of US forces through McFarland's Gap after collapse of Union right flank.
Thomas withdraws into Chattanooga night of the 20th via Rossville Gap to the north.
