Small monument marking the capture of Nathan Hale, Revolutionary war patriot who is famously quoted with the phrase "I regret I have but one life to give to my country."

  • Actually the large glacial stone with a bronze plaque added later was moved to the site in the 1960's - much to the concernation of the local residents from whose beach it was removed. The idea being that this beach was where Nathan Hale embarked from his journey across the Long Island Sound. Most likely he was intercepted by a British patrol after getting into a political arguement with the local Tories at one of local pubs.
