This is the burial site for William Jenkins Worth, for whom Fort Worth, TX is named. He was born in Hudson, NY and was a General during the Mexican-American War. Erected in 1857, the Worth Monument marks the grave of the one public figure to be buried under the streets of Manhattan. The rectangular structure leads to Water Tunnel No. 1, carrying water from the Catskills.

The pedestrian plaza closest to the Flatiron Building served as the filming location for White Collar "Taking Account", episode 307.
